Peter Carrescia

Peter Carrescia is a co-founder and head of strategy and business development at Qui Identity, a venture-backed technology startup based in Toronto, Canada. In his extensive technology career, Peter has funded and helped scale high growth companies both as an operator and a venture capitalist.

Most recently, Peter led strategy and corporate development at Wave Financial, acquired by H&R Block for $537 million in 2019. Prior to Wave, Peter was the President of NEXT Canada, a national tech-accelerator and founder development platform focused on fast-tracking the success of Canada’s most talented young founders.

Earlier in his career, Peter was a venture capitalist at leading Canadian venture capital firms, including as managing director at OMERS Ventures, where he led the initial investment in Wave Financial which he would later join as a senior executive. He started his career at IBM and then Microsoft in progressively senior technical and marketing roles.

Peter holds a Joint Honours Bachelor of Mathematics in Computer Science and Business Administration from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
