What’s the one thing in life you want more than nearly anything else?
For me, ever since I can remember, it’s been building and running my own business. After university it became more specific – “build a software company”. Backups and cyber security are my life’s passion.
I started my first business in university. Here’s a few things I learned along the way:
1. Surround yourself with great people. They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well it takes several villages to build a business. Find a great co-founder or two, surround yourself with advisors and mentors, and hire great people.
2. Find a passion. For my life that’s been helping people. I love helping people, and given my passion about data and backups, Rewind is natural way to do that. There’s no greater joy than bringing back data that someone thought was gone forever and helping protect critical company data.
3. Startup hustle is bullshit. Take time to rest and clear your mind so you can solve tough problems. Ever worked on a problem for hours, couldn’t make any progress, then left to clear your mind, came back and solved it in minutes? Happens all the time. Get away from work so you can best at your best.
