Thomas Birch

Thomas Birch has been Managing Director, Global Venture Capital and Technology, since 2015. In this role, he leads CDPQ’s technology and venture capital investment activities within the Private Equity team.

Mr. Birch has over 30 years of entrepreneurial software operating experience in the contact centre, telecom, CRM and e-commerce markets. Prior to joining CDPQ, he was VP of Corporate Development at Telesystem and Managing Partner of Propulsion Ventures, where he invested primarily in software-as-a-service oriented early stage companies. Before moving into the investment world, he was CEO of three software companies that were financed by venture capital or angels: GoodContacts, DataCHEST and Pyderion.

Mr. Birch has a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.Sc. of Computing Science from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business of University of Western Ontario.

He currently sits on the Board of Directors of IEX. During his career, he has sat on Boards of many companies, including Lightspeed Commerce, Hopper, Dalcor, Element AI, Interest, dna13, eBillme, IVARA and X20 Media.
